Rebuild your WordPress site with a clean custom theme

Bought themes and page builders get heavy over time. I rebuild WordPress sites with lean custom themes and custom blocks, so your site is faster, easier to edit and much simpler to maintain.

Rebuild your WordPress site with a clean custom theme

A lot of WordPress sites start with a premium theme from a marketplace. They look great in the demo. Then reality sets in: dozens of bundled plugins, a theme options panel with hundreds of settings, slow pages, layouts that break after updates and a child theme full of overrides nobody remembers writing.

At some point, patching it costs more than rebuilding it properly.

I'm Aldrian, an independent developer. I rebuild WordPress sites with clean, custom themes, keeping your content and URLs while removing the bloat.

Real WordPress rebuilds

I did a full WordPress revamp for National Business Concepts, an accounting and consulting firm in Oklahoma City. The site needed a clear navigation, a services section for accounting, consulting and training, a team page showing every role and a contact block with address, email and phone, all responsive for phones and tablets.

I also designed and built the Origin Code Technology site in WordPress, with a bold hero, clear calls to action, a services section and an about section that tells the company story.

And on Artic Flex, I cleaned up a child theme's outdated WooCommerce template overrides one by one, rebuilt the few still needed and removed the rest, as part of a safe upgrade to PHP 8.4.

Why a custom theme

Only what you need

A custom theme includes the features your site uses and nothing else. Less code means faster pages and fewer things to break.

Fewer plugins

Many features that people add plugins for, like custom sections, sliders, icon boxes and testimonials, can be built into the theme properly. Fewer plugins means fewer updates, conflicts and security risks.

Custom blocks for your content

Instead of a page builder full of options, editors get custom blocks designed for your content: a service card, a team member, a case study, a pricing table. They fill in fields, and the design stays consistent.

Built for your brand

Typography, spacing, colors and layouts that match your brand, not a demo built for everyone.

Easier to maintain

Clean, documented code that any good WordPress developer can understand. No lock-in to me or to a theme vendor.

What I keep

  • All your content: pages, posts, products, media and custom fields
  • Your URLs, so search rankings and links keep working
  • Your SEO settings: titles, descriptions, structured data and redirects
  • Your integrations: forms, analytics, email marketing and CRMs, tested again
  • Your users and orders, for stores and membership sites

The rebuild process

1. Audit

I review your current theme, plugins, page templates, custom code and integrations. I also measure speed so we have a baseline.

2. Plan

We list the templates and blocks you need, decide which plugins to keep, replace or remove and agree on design changes.

3. Design

A faithful version of your current look, a refresh or a new design. I'll show you key pages before building everything.

4. Build

The theme is built with clean templates, custom blocks and a consistent design system, on a staging copy of your site.

5. Migrate and clean up

Content is checked page by page. Old shortcodes and builder leftovers are converted or cleaned.

6. Test

Every template on phones and desktops, forms, checkout, search and integrations. Speed measured again.

7. Launch

The new theme goes live, with a rollback plan ready. I monitor after launch.

Block themes, classic themes and hybrids

Modern WordPress supports block themes, where the whole site is built with blocks, as well as classic PHP themes. I'll recommend the approach that fits your team, your content and your plugins. Either way, editors get a simple, safe editing experience.

WooCommerce stores

Store themes need extra care: product pages, cart, checkout and account pages must match your design without breaking WooCommerce updates. I keep template overrides to a minimum and use hooks wherever possible, so future updates don't cause the problems I often get hired to fix.

Common mistakes in WordPress rebuilds

Swapping one bloated theme for another. It moves the problem instead of solving it.

Copying WooCommerce templates for small changes. Overrides go stale with every update. Hooks are safer.

Leaving shortcodes everywhere. Old builder shortcodes break when the builder is removed. They need to be converted.

No staging site. Rebuilding on the live site risks downtime.

Forgetting editors. A theme that's beautiful but hard to edit gets abandoned.

Signs it's time to rebuild

  • Every theme update breaks something
  • Your site loads dozens of plugins, and nobody knows what half of them do
  • Speed scores stay poor no matter how much caching you add
  • Editors are afraid to change pages because layouts fall apart
  • The theme vendor stopped releasing updates
  • Your child theme is full of copied templates from years ago

If two or three of these sound familiar, a rebuild will probably save you money within a couple of years, in fewer emergencies, lighter maintenance and faster pages.
