React is the most widely used library for building modern web interfaces, and Next.js is one of the most popular frameworks built on top of it. Together they power everything from marketing sites to complex SaaS products. Used well, they produce fast, interactive and SEO-friendly websites. Used carelessly, they produce slow pages that search engines struggle to read.
I'm Aldrian, an independent developer in the Philippines. I build websites and web apps with React and TypeScript, using Next.js or React Router depending on the project.
React projects I've built
Ghostly
Ghostly is an end-to-end encrypted chat app I built with React, TypeScript, Vite and Tailwind CSS on Cloudflare Workers, Durable Objects and D1. Messages are encrypted in the browser with the Web Crypto API, rooms update in real time over WebSockets and it installs as a PWA. It scored 99 for performance in Lighthouse when I measured it.
Lakeside Smile Studio
The Lakeside Smile Studio demo is a small-business website built with React 19, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS v4, with lazy-loaded routes and motion that respects reduced-motion settings. Every route is prerendered to its own HTML file with full SEO tags and a generated sitemap.
My own website
My portfolio and its admin are built with React Router on Cloudflare Workers, with server rendering, a D1 database and a custom content management system.
What I build with React and Next.js
- Marketing websites that are fast and SEO-friendly
- Web applications with sign-in, dashboards and databases. See custom web apps.
- SaaS products and MVPs. See micro-SaaS.
- Headless CMS front ends for WordPress, Sanity or other CMSs. See headless CMS.
- E-commerce front ends connected to commerce platforms
- Progressive web apps that install on phones
- Interactive tools like calculators, configurators and dashboards
Next.js or React Router?
Both are excellent React frameworks with server rendering and routing.
Next.js has a large ecosystem, close integration with Vercel and features like the App Router, server components and image optimization.
React Router in framework mode is lightweight, close to web standards and runs very well on platforms like Cloudflare Workers.
I'll recommend the one that fits your hosting, team and features. If you already have a Next.js codebase, I'll work within it.
Doing React right
Server rendering for SEO and speed
Pages are rendered on the server or prebuilt, so search engines and visitors get real HTML immediately, not a blank page waiting for JavaScript.
Less JavaScript in the browser
Only the code each page needs, split and loaded efficiently. This matters most for INP and performance on mid-range phones. See Core Web Vitals.
TypeScript throughout
Types catch mistakes before they reach users and make the code easier for other developers.
Accessible components
Proper semantics, keyboard support and focus management, especially for menus, dialogs and forms. See accessibility.
Clean component structure
Reusable components, a consistent design system with Tailwind CSS and clear separation between data loading and display.
Secure by default
Server-side validation, safe handling of secrets and protection against common web vulnerabilities.
Deployment
I deploy React and Next.js projects to Vercel, Cloudflare, Netlify or your own infrastructure. Accounts are set up in your name, with preview deployments for every change so you can review before anything goes live.
Joining an existing project
If you already have a React or Next.js codebase, I can:
- Fix bugs and performance problems
- Add features
- Upgrade framework versions
- Improve SEO and Core Web Vitals
- Refactor messy components
- Add TypeScript and tests
Common React and Next.js mistakes
Rendering everything in the browser. Hurts SEO and first load speed.
Huge bundles. Importing large libraries for small features.
Ignoring accessibility. Custom dropdowns and modals without keyboard support.
Fetching data in waterfalls. One request waiting for another slows pages down.
Over-engineering. Not every site needs complex state management.
Performance on real phones
React apps often feel fast on a developer's laptop and sluggish on a mid-range Android phone over mobile data. I test on throttled connections and slower devices, measure bundle sizes on every release and keep heavy libraries out of the critical path. Images are served in modern formats at the right sizes, fonts are loaded efficiently and interactive features load only when they're needed.
Handover your team can work with
At the end of a project, you get a codebase that's easy to pick up: a clear folder structure, typed data models, a README covering setup and deployment, environment variables documented and tests for the most important flows. If you hire an in-house team later, they can continue without starting over.
What it usually costs
It depends on the scope. Marketing sites, web apps and SaaS products are each quoted as fixed-price projects after we define what's needed. Work on existing codebases starts with a quick review.
How we'd work
- We talk about the project and any existing code.
- I recommend a framework and hosting.
- You get a quote with timeline and fixed price.
- I build with preview deployments.
- We test performance, SEO and features.
- We launch, and I hand over clean, documented code.
