When people search for a monthly website plan under $100, they usually want two things: a predictable cost and someone else handling the technical side. Website builders and agencies sell that as a monthly subscription. It's convenient. It also tends to cost far more than it looks, and you rarely own what you're paying for.
I'm Aldrian, an independent developer. I offer something simpler: a custom website for $99 a year, all-in. That's roughly $8.25 a month, and it includes your domain and hosting for the first year.
The math on monthly plans
Monthly plans are designed to feel small. But think about a few years, not one month:
- The base plan is just the start. Removing ads, adding a custom domain, using forms or selling online often needs a higher tier.
- App or plugin add-ons each carry their own monthly fee.
- Prices can rise, and you can't easily leave because your site only works on that platform.
- When you stop paying, the website stops too.
With my package, you pay yearly for a website built for you. There's no tier system, no add-on store and no lock-in.
What $99 a year includes
- Up to 4 hand-coded pages
- A .com or .net domain for the first year
- Hosting for the first year on fast static hosting with a global CDN
- Mobile-friendly layout
- A working contact form
- Basic SEO setup
- 3 revision rounds
- Delivery in 5 to 7 business days after I receive your content
After the first year, there's a yearly renewal for domain and hosting. Domain prices vary slightly by extension, so I'll confirm the amount before your renewal.
What about updates?
This is where monthly plans seem convenient: you edit the site yourself. In practice, many owners rarely log in, and when they do, they worry about breaking something.
With my package, you send me the change and it's done for $10 per request. You only pay when you actually need an update. For most small businesses, that's far cheaper than a monthly fee for editing tools they barely use.
Is a monthly plan ever better?
Sometimes. If you want to redesign your own pages every week or run a large online store yourself, a builder or e-commerce platform with a monthly fee may suit you. If you need a clean, fast site that represents your business and rarely changes, a yearly custom site is usually the better deal.
How it compares
| $99 a year package | Typical builder plan | |
|---|---|---|
| Billing | Yearly | Monthly |
| Domain | Included first year | Often extra or higher tier |
| Design | Custom for you | Template |
| Speed | Light, hand-coded | Heavier builder code |
| Edits | $10 per request, done for you | Do it yourself |
| Leaving | Your site and domain stay yours | Rebuild elsewhere |
Moving from a monthly builder
If you're already paying monthly for Wix, Squarespace or similar, I can rebuild your site and move your domain, then you cancel the subscription once everything is working. More on my builder migration page. If your site is bigger than four pages, I'll quote the extra pages upfront.
A quick three-year comparison
Instead of comparing a monthly price with a yearly one, picture three years of owning a small business website.
On a monthly builder plan, you pay every single month. If you need a custom domain, forms that don't show the builder's branding or a few add-on apps, you're often pushed into a higher tier. Over three years, those months add up to a sizable amount, and at the end you still own nothing you can take elsewhere.
With the $99 a year package, you pay once a year for a website built for you. In year one, that includes the build, the domain and the hosting. In years two and three, you renew the domain and hosting. When you need a change, you pay $10 for that update, and only when you need it.
For a site that mostly stays the same, the yearly approach is usually far cheaper. And if you ever want to move, your domain and code go with you.
What "all-in" really means
I use the phrase "all-in" because hidden costs are the biggest complaint people have about cheap websites. Here's what you won't be charged extra for in the first year:
- Registering your .com or .net domain
- Hosting and the secure HTTPS certificate
- Setting up your contact form
- Making the site work on phones
- The basic SEO setup
- Three rounds of revisions during the build
What costs extra is clear too: pages beyond four at $25 each, content updates after launch at $10 per request, and bigger features like checkout or booking, which get their own quote.
Who it's right for
- Small businesses that want predictable, low yearly costs
- Freelancers and consultants who need a professional site, not a project
- Startups that want a fast launch site
- Owners tired of paying monthly for tools they don't use
